The Fifth Grade Curriculum
The following is an overview of the state curriculum standards for fifth grade.
The social studies curriculum focuses on the making of our nation. From pre-Columbian Native Americans, to the European Age of Exploration, to the American Revolution, students learn about the people, places, and events in the making of the United States of America. Students are asked to view history from the multiple perspectives of those involved. The universal themes of change, conflict, and power are highlighted to enrich student learning. Students gain geographic knowledge of the world and the nation.
